Robin McKim strongly supports the
‘best practice’ approach applied by the Green Party in creating a new
politics. He sees the benefit of modelling policy on successful
initiatives, proven locally and around the world, in order to move
forward with insight, not hindsight. He believes this approach creates
ideas that are more founded in reality than those thrown together by a
handful of ideological thinkers in a political backroom. Further, he
endorses the Green Party’s vision which addresses the long term plan
for Ontario instead of only the next election period – a new approach
to reducing ideology in favour of informed decision-making.
This shift of emphasis
from the politicking of the old-line parties to fresh ideas not
burdened by hidden political agendas led Robin to get involved with the
Greens. He served on the board of directors in his riding and went on
to assume the role of events organizer and fundraising chair for the
federal election of 2008. He then ran as the Green Party candidate in
British Columbia’s 2009 election and is now energized for the fall
election here in Ontario.
Robin is an East Ender and
an entrepreneur. He studied at McMaster University where he developed
an interest in renewable energy technologies. He has owned and managed
three businesses including a contracting business in the East End, a
water management company, and GeoSave Solutions Ltd, a green energy
company in the Okanagan Valley of BC.
Robin’s main interest lies
in shifting our economic focus from the dying industries centred on
depleting fossil fuels to the growing market of green energy that
advanced economies are capitalizing on worldwide. His company GeoSave
worked toward this aim by promoting sustainable energy technologies
that provide an immediate positive cash flow to the consumer.
He believes this mentality
of preserving the environment by championing the economic benefits of
green technology is the strongest way to bring the economic and
ecological change we need.
